Study Break

Hi Everyone!
  I decided to take a study break and write a post about some of my favorite things! Now some of these you may or may not already know!

In no particular order:

1. Margaritas! I order mine " on the rocks" NO salt!

2. Magazines! Pretty much all of them...especially Glamour, InStyle, Cosmo, Self, and People!

3. Flowers! Especially roses!

4. Nail Polish, especially OPI!

5. Perfume, Armani's Acqua Di Gioia is my newest!

6. Starbucks' Grande Nonfat Iced Caramel Macchiato

7. The Ocean

8. Traveling!

9. Dancing

10. Panda Bears!

Well this list could probably go on forever! I will have to do another favorite things post again sometime!

I like number 8! I really believe in treating any day as a special day...you don't have to wait for special days or holidays to treat others or yourself!!

Lost Title

Hi everyone!
Today got off to a bumpy start when I decided to turn my alarm off instead of snooze! Needless to say I got up at 8:45 when I had to be at work at 9!! Oops! I definitely can't make that mistake once I'm licensed, because the pharmacy can't open until the pharmacist is there!
My day hasn't ended on a very good note today either, I'm suppose to get my Florida license plates tomorrow and my parents and I are switching the car and everything into my name but I can't find the title! I'm about 99% sure I packed it into a box which is now at the bottom of our storage unit....ugh. The DMV isn't open on weekends so we are going to have to go dig for the title this weekend and then hopefully get it all set on Monday!
I want to get a license plate that sort of matches this frame I have:

Which do you guys like better?

Anyway there's not much else going on around here, just working and studying!
I'm taking my tests on August 4th and 8th and I will be very happy to be done studying!!

Next weekend I'll be in Chicago for my cousin's wedding and it just so happens that John has to be in Naperville for work that weekend so we will be seeing each other in Chicago! Only 7 more days till I get to see him and my best friends Kristin and Molly! I'm very excited to see everyone, including all my extended family that's up there!

I Believe In Pink

Hello everyone!
Today has been one of those typical Mondays. Not very fun. I worked 9-6:30 today which went by pretty fast which was good. However, today has been one of those blah kind of days. I feel like I'm in a rut with work and studying. I really am missing my friends and boyfriend. I feel like my transition has been going well from out of school, but now that I'm more settled I'm realizing what I'm missing. I am grateful to have my family around so I definitely don't feel alone but it's just not the same. A friend of mine posted this quote from Audrey Hepburn on Facebook today. Audrey Hepburn can always lift my spirits, so I'll share the quote with you in hopes it does the same!

Sunday Night Already?

Hi everyone!
 It always seems that Sunday evening comes so fast and you have to start getting ready for the week again! My weekend has been full of studying and shopping! Yesterday I did a lot of studying. Today I did a lot of shopping after church.
First, church was really good today. The priest talked about how the bible tells us not to judge others. He talked about how we must coexist with each other and leave the judgment to God, which I thought was a good message.
After church I went to the mall because I really needed some new work clothes. Well Gap, Express, and Banana Republic were having great sales! I probably don't need to shop for work clothes for a verrrryyyy long time. I bought a skirt, 2 dresses, 6 pairs of pants, a pair of shorts, countless tops, 5 pairs of shoes, a belt and earrings! You can see why I won't need to shop for awhile!! One of my fashion woes has been trying to figure out what I want to wear to work. As a pharmacist there are many different styles that are out there. It seems that most pharmacists go for a more casual, comfortable look. That's just no fun! I feel as a professional I should dress as one. It is hard to figure out what shoes to wear since I am on my feet all day. I usually wear cute flats or shoes with a small wedge. I've never worn heels to work. I've seen maybe one pharmacist ever wear heels. It would look so much better to wear heels with my outfits...but I don't know if my feet would appreciate it! I wonder if other younger pharmacists have this same problem?
Anyway I'm just going to be studying the rest of the night and work tomorrow starts at 9am! Joy!

I'd like to give a shout out to my good friend Vicki on her 24th birthday today! She is an amazing person and I'm blessed to have her as a friend. I wish she didn't live so far away in California!! Hopefully I can visit her this fall :-)

As Promised

Hello!
 Here is the recap of my weekend with John as promised!
On Friday night we made dinner at my house. We made Chilean Sea Bass and I wish I would've taken a picture of it! We watched a YouTube video on how to make it, haha. It turned out perfectly! We enjoyed sitting outside eating and talking. We stayed in on Friday night just relaxing watching TV with some wine.
On Saturday we had an active day! First we went biking in a nearby park!

After biking we went to Naples beach!!

After the beach we went home got cleaned up and went out to dinner. We went to Carraba's for some yummy Italian food. We then walked to a few bars for a drink.
On Sunday morning we got up early for a game of golf!

After golf we took a refreshing dip in the pool.

As you can see it was a fun filled weekend! It went by way too fast! I have two more weeks to go until I get to see him again in Chicago!

Well now onto some studying and work this evening. Then Harry Potter at midnight tonight!! I'm very excited about this!

What Makes Love True

Absent

 Sorry I've been absent from the blog world for a few days! John was in town this weekend so we were pretty busy doing all kinds of things around town! This Monday begins another week of work and studying :-( In my next post I will tell all about my great weekend and share pictures! Back to Work

Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a nice long weekend! Just a recap of my 4th of July:
I got some studying done in the morning then we went to something called the River District here in Fort Myers. It is like a little downtown area. It's super cute with little shops, art galleries, restaurants and bars. They were having a block party type thing with vendors, games, bands, etc. Here's a few pics from that!

After having dinner at the river district we went home for dessert and fireworks!

 I made the patriotic marshmallows and my mom made the crepes!
It was a great day with family!
Today so far I've just been studying and have work this afternoon for a 4 hour shift. Then I think I'm going to get a spray tan. I know, I know I live in Florida can't I get a real tan? Haha, well between work and studying I haven't had much time to lay out. Plus I really don't want cancer or wrinkles, so I think I'll stick to my SPF and spray tans :-)

Guess what? Only about 3 days until the bf gets here!! I'm so excited!!!

P.S. Did anyone watch the Casey Anthony trial? I really can't believe she's not guilty. I do see however that the evidence wasn't substantial enough to convict her. However, it is sad when circumstantially it seems obvious that she did it. What do you think?

Weekend Update

Hi Everyone!
 It's been a busy weekend so far! On Saturday I worked from 9-6 then went over to my grandparents' house for dinner. After that a bunch of my aunts, uncles and cousins met at the beach for ice cream. Ft. Myers beach is an interesting place. During the day its a great beach because there are all kinds of shops, restaurants, bars, and activities. However, it is not the most tranquil, relaxing type of beach. Naples beach, Marco Island or Sanibel Island are the more low key relaxing beaches. Anyways, Ft. Myers beach at night is interesting because there are usually 3-4 street performers such as dancers, artists and usually random people dressed up in costumes. It's usually pretty crowded at night too.
Yesterday my sisters, brother and I went golfing at the golf course in our neighborhood. Here's the photo evidence!

After golfing we were pretty tired. I took a shower and a nap! After that we had some family over for dinner. Then me and my sisters went and saw Transformers which was good! I like all the transformers movies! So as you can see I've been busy! Today I need to get some studying done and then we are going to a block party type thing downtown Ft. Myers!

Catch Up

Hi Everyone,
 Sorry I haven't posted in a few days! I've been busy working and studying! So in my last post I said I was going to talk about the pharmacist surplus that I've been reading about. Now back in 2005 when we started college everyone was telling us " oh you will have six job offers when you graduate" and " oh you'll get sign on bonuses and cars, etc.." Well let me tell you, in 2011 that is not the case anymore! It was very interesting going through the interview process in the fall of 2011 and finding that many companies were only hiring their own interns and some couldn't even hire all of their interns! So this article I was readin threw out some interesting facts. " From 2000 to 2010 the number of pharmacy schools increased by 50% to 120. The number of pharmacy graduates is expected to come close to doubling, climbing from 7,300 in 2010 to 13,247 in 2013!" Now it is true that with baby boomers growing older more pharmacists are needed and with the new Affordable Care Act more are insured than before. However, if pharmacists can't get reimbursed for managing and screening for asthma, cholesterol, diabetes, stroke, etc. the profession won't be able to employ this surplus of pharmacists.
According to a Harvard University study 107,000 Americans die each year from adverse drug effects, drug interactions, and failure of pharmacists to counsel patients and check their histories.This shows the need for pharmacists and the need to have proper reimbursement from insurance companies so that pharmacy corporations can hire and keep enough pharmacists to offer good care. These corporations are cutting back making it hard for a pharmacist to spend time with the patient as they should because they don't have enough tech help due to cut backs,  This article proposes that someone needs to negotiate standards of practice with the federal government since it will be the new payer for all health care for all Americans. 

Sorry that was a bit long, but I am grateful for the job that I have and hope that pharmacists will succeed in proving our value in health care of the nation.

My plan for the rest of the day is to study, paint my nails and work from 2-9. I'm working tomorrow and Sunday but then have Monday and Tuesday off! My goal is to get my gym membership this weekend.
I'm looking forward to the 4th of July! I want to make some sort of festive dessert, I've been seeing all kinds of cute recipes in magazines. Like this one from Coastal Living!

I'm also excited because I just followed a whole bunch of people on twitter like Vogue and InStyle and they have great tweets for those who like those magazines!
